Hotel collabs look glamorous from the outside. Behind every "gifted stay" post is a creator who knew how to pitch, follow up, and deliver value. Here's the framework we use at Travel Artist Club.
Know Your Numbers
Before you cold-email a hotel, be clear on what you bring to the table:
- Monthly reach — unique accounts reached, not just followers
- Engagement rate — likes + comments ÷ followers × 100
- Niche fit — do your followers actually travel? Do they book hotels?
A creator with 8 000 followers and a 6% engagement rate in the luxury travel niche is more valuable to a boutique property than a 100 K lifestyle account with 0.8% engagement.
Find the Right Properties
Don't blast every hotel you can find. Target:
- Independent boutiques — smaller teams, faster decisions, flexible budgets
- New openings — they need content urgently
- Properties already working with creators — search your destination + hotel on Instagram/TikTok
The Pitch
Keep it short. The person reading it has 200 other emails.
Hi [Name], I'm [Your Name], a travel creator based in [City] documenting [niche]. I'll be in [Destination] on [Dates] and think [Hotel] would resonate strongly with my audience of [X] followers — [brief why it fits]. I'd love to explore a content collab. Can I send over a one-pager?
That's it. No rate card in the first message. No paragraph about your "journey as a creator."
Deliver More Than You Promised
Show up, shoot well, post on time. Tag the property. Send them the files. Write a short recap email with stats after. That's how a one-off collab becomes a recurring relationship — and a recurring relationship is how you build a travel career.
